Choices

You do not choose life (it chooses you).

You do not choose to be born.

You do not choose to die.

But you choose how you live.

You do not choose to breathe.

But you can choose to be thankful that you do.

You do not choose to think.

But you can choose your own thoughts.

You cannot choose your emotions.

But you can choose to honor them (if they are pure).

Just as you can choose to ignore them (if they are not).

You do not choose the broken bone or the broken home.

But you can choose how to pick up the pieces.

You do not choose the color of your eyes.

But you can choose what there is to see.

You do not choose to be alive.

But you can choose to be grateful that you are.

‘What do you do in life ?’

‘I makes choices, don’t you ?’
